McCain and the NAACP

John McCain spoke to a tough crowd today: the NAACP annual convention. Last year he skipped it due to scheduling conflicts. Bush skipped it many years in a row. Republicans generally max out at 9 percent of the black vote and there is no reason to believe that McCain will do even that well against the first African American Democratic presidential candidate. But that's not the point. Politics watchers say he spoke to the NAACP to court moderate white voters.
