John McCain spoke to a tough crowd today: the NAACP annual convention. Last year he skipped it due to scheduling conflicts. Bush skipped it many years in a row.
Republicans generally max out at 9 percent of the black vote and there is no reason to believe that McCain will do even that well against the first African American Democratic presidential candidate.
