As we blogged last week, President Obama's support of marriage equality for all genders and sexual orientations was a watershed moment, even if it has no immediate legal impact (and even though he has little more than the bully pulpit on this issue). Now comes the intense speculation on how much this will help him or hurt him.

Regarding the intersection of minority groups, Black, Latino and gay, we have some idiocy and mendacity to highlight, and some wisdom.

It's not a surprise that Americans who claim to be strongly religious (or religious conservatives) oppose same-sex marriage. It's probably not surprising, either, that agnostics and athiests tend to support same-sex marriage. What may be surprising is the huge gulf in viewpoints, and the shift among all religions toward acceptance.
